Mobile, Alabama (PRWEB) April 28, 2011

McKemie Place, the region?s only shelter for homeless women, is announcing an e-card Fundraiser for Mother?s Day. This year, McKemie Place is offering a special way to honor moms and help out the community on Mother?s Day. On the morning of May 2nd, Mother?s Day e-cards will be available on mckemieplace.org. All you have to do is go online, choose a Mother?s Day e-card and a donation amount. A nice selection of Mothers Day e-cards will be available to choose from. Once you choose a card and donation amount, you will need to input your credit card information and the money will go directly to benefit the shelter. The e-card will be sent to whomever you choose and will inform the recipient that a donation to McKemie Place has been made in her honor.

Sending an e-card from McKemie Place tells someone how much you care, and that you care for someone else who has no one else to turn to for shelter, food, security and spiritual support. Reverend Tonny Algood, the director of McKemie Place, is very excited about the launch of the Mother?s Day e-cards. ?A contribution to McKemie Place in honor of or in memory of a special mother is a significant gesture this Mother?s Day.? Also, he wants everyone to know that more e-cards will be coming to the website that will feature additional occasions so make sure to check back soon.

McKemie Place is the only overnight shelter for single, homeless women in all of Mobile, Washington and Baldwin Counties. In two years, more than 500 women sought refuge here?away from the threat of violence. McKemie Place now averages over 55 women a night who look to the shelter for an evening meal, a hot shower and a safe night?s rest. The continuous generosity from the local community keeps the doors open and provides local, homeless women a safe haven from the streets.
