Ways for Single Moms to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Make Mother’s Day this year about you and your children. Celebrate the extraordinary mom that you are. You may have to bring the family together, which is perfectly acceptable. Being upfront with your children about how you want to celebrate your day shows them that you value being a mother and you remove the speculation off them making your day special.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • If you have teenagers or, ask them to prepare your favorite breakfast, which includes them cleaning the kitchen or wash your car so mom can be styling and profiling for the entire week.

  • For moms that have children under the age of 8, Create a “Mother’s Day Coupon Book.” I created the below coupon book:

Take 8×10 piece of paper, cut into four pieces. I used white paper for the demonstration, but construction paper would look great as well.

Stack the four pieces of paper and staple the papers together with two staples placed on the left side of the stack.

Once the stack is stapled together with your favorite color use a marker and write “Mother’s Day Coupon Book” on the front page of the book.

MD Book 3

On the remainder of the pages write on the top of them the following statement: “This coupon entitles Mommy to….. and on the bottom of the pages write Expires: Never.

In the middle of the pages write what you want. Some examples of what you could write may include, a “Big Hug.”

On the back you could write the following:

This is the time to be creative on what you want for the remainder of the year as a mom. My two children are under the ages of 8 and appreciate mommy’s artwork. Also, I don’t have much time to be fancy with scrapbook techniques. This is an easy project that you’ll can do together. Please keep in mind that you will only receive the gift if you use the coupon book.

May your Mother’s Day month be filled with lots of love and hugs.

The woman who creates and sustains a home,

and under whose hand children grow up to be strong and pure men and women,

is a creator second only to GOD.

~Helen Hunt Jackson 1830-1855

American Writer, Indian Rights Reformer

What a wonderful quote to begin the Single Moms month long CELEBRATION!

You are not alone in your day to day tasks of providing for your family and nuturing your child(ren)! You are working hand and hand with GOD! His grace is with you everyday!

From one Single Mom to another, I want to tell you that you are SIGNIFICANT! You are an EXTRAORDINARY woman that is persevering against the odds! You are BEAUTIFUL! You are AWESOME!

If you never celebrated Mother’s Day in past because you were self conscious about tooting your own horn, this is where I pop you in the forehead like the V8 commercial! No, but seriously if you do not celebrate yourself no one else will, if you do not make yourself important no one else will see that you are important.

So what if you have to initate celebrating you! Don’t you want to smell the roses and hear the praises of your family while here on earth? This is the time for you to receive all the hugs, kisses, and thank you’s. YOU deserve it!

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate you for ALL your hard work and scarfices that you have made to better your family. You deserve to feel  LOVED and APPRECIATED and the day should not go unrecognized.

I am asking all Single MOMS to raise their heads up high and walk proud that you are holding down the fort as the mother, sometimes the father, chef, maid, bookkeeper, breadwinner, and any other hat that you may wear!

Continue to sustain your home and walk hand and hand with GOD and celebrate your SUCCESS as a Single Mom!
